Hi, I am Alex.

 

Glad you’ve made it this far into my website.  Hope you’ve enjoyed browsing through my images.

 

I’ve been photographing for over 25 years so I guess that makes me established.  Through my eyes, nothing has really changed apart from some added experience. I have always set out to capture and photograph a moment in time that I like.  The challenge of finding something of interest or beauty within a space or a person, is what has always motivated me.

 

In the good old film days, my first passion was with black and white photography and I would spend endless hours developing my images in my darkroom. The anticipation of seeing the image come to life in the dark was always exciting but the act of photographing itself was always the real thrill.  Now, I find myself ‘developing’ in front of the computer utilising the digital world and all its technology. It is not all that different, apart from the smell of the chemicals you had to deal with. Nothing beats a good shot.  You still need good light, angles, timing and patience.

 

Photographing architecture for a client or creating some black and white images for the arts is all the same to me – it’s collaboration.  I really enjoy the challenge and bringing my client’s vision to life as an image that can be used to promote and enhance their business or expertise. 

 

Ultimately, I really like the idea that images can stand alone, regardless of the technology used to help create them.  We all like an image that stands the test of time and can be appreciated for years to come.  I know some of my first black and white images have acheived that for me...hopefully some of my images can do that for you too.
